What do you like about working at Motion Canada?
I am proud to be part of a company with such a long history of leadership in the industry. I love that, through the knowledge of our people and the products we represent, we offer practical solutions that truly help our customers.

Have you learned anything cool about yourself while working here?
The most important things I have learned are that I am a good multitasker, and that I am a bit of a perfectionist. There are many ways this shows up, but one example is that as part the Safety Committee I find myself performing safety checks for the branch, answering questions for others and helping my peers strive for excellence.

I believe that knowing myself well allows me to add a lot of value at work and be of real help to my colleagues. So I think finding your fit in the company is about getting to know who you truly are, and finding a system of getting things done that works for you.

Do you have a success story that you would like to share?
We had a customer who needed a product right away because a critical production line was down, which affects the entire plant and puts everyone behind schedule. Our regular vendor didn’t have the product in stock and to get it would have taken far longer than the customer was able to wait. When the issue came to my attention, I jumped right on it and quickly found a replacement. After speaking with the Account Rep, I learned that this could have cost the customer thousands of dollars, but I was able to save them a lot of time and money and we are now their preferred supplier of choice!

Do you have advice for anyone just starting at Motion Canada?
It will take some time to feel like you’ve got the hang of your role since there is a lot to learn. And that’s ok! Remember everyone has to start somewhere and if you work hard, bring plenty of energy to the job and put your mind to it, you’ll start to grow in your knowledge and abilities. Also, you can learn so much from others, and if you incorporate the ideas and techniques they share, you can go far.

Imagine you are given one million dollars – what are the first three things you do with it?
First, I would buy a Roti Food Truck and use it to help feed the hungry. Then I would invest some and travel to the Caribbean.

Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
Extrovert – I like to mingle and people watch. I love meeting new people and hearing their fascinating life stories, and if I’m ever out of town I have so much fun socializing and exploring the local culture and food.
