About Motion Canada

With almost 900 employees, more than 50 branches, 10 shops and two distribution centres, Motion Canada is the largest national supplier of industrial parts and solutions to companies across Canada – think mining, automotive, chemical, pharmaceutical, iron and steel, food and beverage, oil and gas, wood and lumber, pulp and paper and more.

OUR HISTORY

Motion Canada is part of Motion Industries, a wholly owned subsidiary of Genuine Parts Company, and our extensive lineage means that over 150,000 of our customers have access to over six million parts from the best brands and access to the highest levels of technical and customer support in the industry.

The “Motion” name has been around since 1997, but we were born of acquisitions dating as far back as 1972 when GPC purchased Oliver Industrial Supply. We’ve acquired a few companies since we became Motion, and our intention is to continue growing and changing to meet market and customer demands.

Acquisitions through the years:

  • Lou’s Bearings (1998)
  • CHV Hydraulics (1998)
  • BGS Bearings (1998)
  • MBS Bearing Service (2000)
  • BC Bearing Engineers Ltd. (2010)
  • Commercial Solutions Inc. (2014)

THE BEST EMPLOYEES

“We aim to keep and engage the best employees who wow our customers every day and drive our industry forward.”

Dermot Strong, President, Motion Canada

WINNING HEARTS AND MINDS

“I like that Motion Canada is a people-first organization – every day we try to win the hearts and minds of our suppliers, customers and employees by leading our industry and our people with integrity and ingenuity.”

Shannon Wand, National Communications Manager

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to meet or exceed our customers’ needs today and always. We’ll do this by delivering quality products and solutions when and where they need them and, importantly, by partnering with our employees and suppliers to continuously improve the solutions we provide.

I like the amount of change we go through. Motion Canada is a dynamic company – always evolving to keep up with technology, customer expectations and market conditions. This creates an environment where we have the opportunity to innovate, challenge the status quo, learn, mentor and collaborate. From a field leadership perspective, these are the things that motivate me and make each work day a new experience.

Ed Van Hell, National Director of Services
