What do you like about working at Motion Canada?
I really enjoy working for Motion Canada because I have always felt valued here, and I think we do a great job of making sure everyone feels included. Also, Motion Canada is a place where growth is encouraged – management makes it a priority to provide resources for everyone to continue learning.

Have you learned anything cool about yourself while working here?
I have learned that every day we have hills to overcome and everyone around us has struggles, but working at Motion Canada has shown me that I have what it takes to conquer those challenges. I’ve had a chance to gain deeper insights into problems and new ideas for finding solutions, and have seen that with the help of those around us we can take on any challenge.

Do you have a success story that you’d like to share?
Recently my team and I put together a custom Fire Box (a box of items that can be used to keep a fire at bay while waiting for the fire department) for a customer. This customer’s operating locations are quite remote, so it could take a while for fire response crews to reach them if a fire did break out. So this new product allows for increased worker safety on the job site, which I think is fantastic. Plus, it’s created according to BC and Alberta specs so we will be able to offer the Fire Box to several remote customers, which is a win-win because it helps to ensure worker safety in remote regions and creates more business for us at Motion Canada!

At Motion Canada, we believe that to be a partner with employees means giving employees what they need to be successful and providing outstanding culture and benefits (among other things!). What does be a partner mean to you?
To me, being a partner means being a team player. It means being in a growth mindset as an employee, as a team member and as an individual. Motion Canada has so many amazing resources and an extremely supportive management team. It is my “responsibility” so to speak to pass on the great knowledge that Motion Canada has passed on to me. That means sharing the things I learn with my colleagues and with my customers. We are all part of the same ‘be a partner” team and committed to  keeping industry in Motion.

Do you have any advice for anyone just starting at Motion Canada?
First of all, welcome to the team! You have made a wise choice. Motion Canada can seem huge (and maybe a little overwhelming at first), but in reality, it’s like joining a big family. We have all the resources and support you could ever need. Be patient, ask questions and speak your mind. At Motion Canada we see everyone’s value and work toward helping those feel right at home so they can be successful.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go any why?
Spain – I have always wanted to see such a beautiful country, and I have heard amazing things about the people and culture. I think the language is beautiful and I am working on my Spanish with the hopes of living there some time in the future.

You are given one million dollars – what are the first three things you do with it?
Oh man! First thing I would do is become debt free, followed by throwing handfuls of cash in the air and dancing under it. Then I would make sure I am financially set up for the rest of my life and would gift some to a few individuals who have been there for me through the good and bad times.

If you were an ice cream flavor, which would you be and why?
Rainbow Bubblegum…because I want to be as diverse as possible in my mindset and skills, and I like to think my personality pops!

Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
I am most definitely an extrovert! I often talk way too much, but I have been on a personal growth journey and I am actively working on my listening skills. This past weekend I was challenged by a mentor of mine to try a stretch exercise. I sat at a table in the mall food court with a sign on my table that said “I am here to LISTEN.” Three people sat with me and shared their stories, and I am extremely grateful that they allowed me to be part of their journey, even just for a little while. And it was extremely humbling to sit there with the sole purpose of waiting for someone to share a piece of their life with me.

My big takeaways from this are that listening more is easy when you simply say less, and that a lot of people feel unheard and need to know there are people out there who care for them. I really valued being that person for a day.
